HatchLabs

HatchLabs is the Department of Computing's digital fabrication and physical computing makerspace based in St James Hatcham Building. We offer inductions on a range of machines and hot-desking workspace for studying, making and collaborating!

• general information/ access:
  • to gain swipe access to HatchLabs you must first read & sign the code of conduct
  • scheduled inductions - book scheduled in-person inductions
  • laser cutter booking slots - book a slot on our Fusion Pro Laser Cutter (only available for students who have completed a laser cutting induction)
  • hatchlabs shop - list and price of materials sold in the lab
  • suppliers/ fabrication services - a list of external materials/ equipment/ fabrication suppliers available
• low risk machines/processes (found in G11 and G12) - these inductions can be completed at a scheduled induction or individually by completing the corresponding tutorials and assessing the result with workshop staff.

• high risk machines/processes (found in G12 and G13) - these require a guided induction which will be offered in the autumn term for laser cutting, or can be requested via email for other machinery: hatchlabs@doc.gold.ac.uk.
